MG 1/100 RX-78 GP03S Stamen

I just completed snapfitting GP03S Stamen... and probably my most cleanest build at the moment...

There are some flaws on the kit considered that this was released in 2001.

But I think most modelers who will buy this kit will buy it for the design (which was by Hajime Katoki...), which I did...

Here is a comparison with the MG Exia released just this 2010...

As you can see, the Stamen is much more chunkier than the Exia.

The Gundam is hard to mount on the action base, or it doesn't really fit well because of the thick thighs.

The hip joints are hard and stable, the upper knee joint is somewhat loos since it's just a polycap, the lower knee joint could at least hold the weight.

But the ankle joints, are some what wiggly. I might have to cement those polycaps in place during customizing... And it doesn't really offer that much articulation also, but it can still do some poses...

I fell in love with those fin verniers... right now, it already equals or stepping up one point higher than Wing Zero...

The head can also rotate 360, up and down, but not better than the more recent MGs...

The torso has limited movement, could only rotate a little bit by milimeters...

I think I should put more details to those intruded parts... something tells me there should be a hole there rather than just that...

I'm thinking of detailing up the interior frame also...

The pneumatic pipes work well but the other parts of the ankle is just not yet perfect...

Shin guards are hollow, might do some plating there...

Verniers on the feet... oldschool epicness...

Beam sabers are stored on the back pack...

More empty details...

Back pack Verniers... The kit is hungry for more details...

The underside is somewhat empty for my taste... I might do some "Strike Customizing" here times 10...

The hands could hold the weapons well enough... but those braces are loose, no pegs attached... the only thing that keeps it there ire the hands stuck in place...

The shield holds up fair enough...

The E-pacs are hollow...

Some inside shield details...

Shield activated!

Gracefully awesome design... I think this design is what started the trend on the Gundams having such big backpacks and wings and such...

Opening cockpit...

And the whole cockpit lock...

Inside of the front skirts...

Grappling claws... as seen in the OVAs... awesome engineering here...

The kit comes with 3 pairs of hands...

The standard beam rifle...

the folding bazooka...

The pilot figures...

The core fighter. which we didn't see in the OVAs... so I considered this as an awesome bonus to an awesome kit...

Opening cockpit...

Nice little details...

You could choose between the core block and the core fighter... but I choose the core block since it blends well more with the Gundam... and and it's better to display the core fighter separately anyways...

The core block is more curvy and streamlined than the core fighter which goes well with the smooth design of the Gundam...

And until next time...

Ja ne!

I might snapfit Deathscyte next or paint Strike...

  2. yes it has an awesome design... too bad it was released years ago...

If ever you got one already, be extra careful when assembling the arms... the pieces too small might come flying... without replacement...
