So this is the 1988 "Char's Counter Attack" 1/144 scale Jegan from Bandai... it's new re-released kit from the original mold, with the original box and packaging as same as it was first released (I believe...), which is why I love Bandai... as they still produce older kits today... and there's still people building older kits despite new ones being released...
I was gonna go for 3 HGUCs, but seeing that this one had body proportions that I like (thin / tall), and the lower price... got this instead... sure the assembly is old tech but I don't really consider the complexity of the OOTB Build when choosing model kits, but rather the process of how I can build it...
And it's vintage... vintage always have awesome boxart...
Anyways... the (slighty OOTB) model is nice. the articulation is slightly good, but not that bad...
A few easy modifications on the waist and upper arm is planned to allow them to swivel.
the head will also be modified for it to be able to turn more, and also look up and down...
Assmebly is simple...
most limbs are two halves joined together (sometimes with screws, but unused here...)
Details are ok, but some needs work due to seamlines...
The joints have visible polycaps, needs to be hidden...
Tight joints but be careful not to break the pegs...
Verniers may need some Kotobukiya MSG Parts just to add interior details...
The two Verniers on the top of the Backpack needs more details...
must be replaced with Koto MSG parts...
Hands are articulated... similar to the early MGs...
Shield and rifle are 1 piece...
The sheild interior has a "Bandai copyright..." written on the inside, needs to be covered...
Sheild missile launchers can be replaced....
The rifle is looking too flat, and needs to be drilled at the barrel...
overall seems fine...
So poses can be a bit stiff looking, so it really needs a few modifications...
but looks good just standing...
Stickers and screws...
For a price of only Y500 (+shipping and others...) each, I'm really happy with this...
